Those expected to gather for the event include Roma and non-Roma organizations, public figures, members of the minority governments in Budapest, to show that neither the victims nor the event has been forgotten.

Six people died in the attacks that seemed to target the Roma community.  In Tatárszentgyörgy, on 23 February 2009, a house at the end of a street was attacked with molotov cocktails.  The house was known to be the home of a Roma family.

As those in the house ran from the house to escape the flames, they were fired upon by people in the street.  After the gunfire stopped, 27-year old Mr Róbert Csorba lay dead, together with his 5-year old son.  Csorba's 6-year old daughter was seriously injured in the attack but survived.

The attack on the Tatárszentgyörgy house was one of a series of nine violent outbreaks that targeted the Roma and ended up with six people losing their lives.

Police investigated the nine crimes and arrested several suspects.  Their trial is set to begin in March, so tomorrow's memorial will be a way of remembering what happened and of jolting the public's memory of events.

Four men were arrested in Debrecen on 21 August 2009 in connection with a murder that happened in Kislétán in Szabolcs County.  The four have been in detention ever since as they wait for their trial to begin.

The four, as is the norm in Hungary, have not been identified but have been named as Mr Árpád K., Mr István K., Mr Zsolt P. and Mr István Cs.

The four are charged with murder, endangering the lives of someone aged 14-or-less, armed robbery and the illegal possession and use of firearms.

The candlelit vigil will be held at St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest, after which a mass will be held for those that lost their lives.
